Term 4 has been amazing here at OOSH we have celebrated and learnt so much.
We celebrated NAIDOC week by encouraging in conversations about the principles and understandings behind Naidoc Week. This year’s central theme is “Always was, always will be” in relation to the time that Indigenous people have lived on and cared for the Australian land. We have interlaced this concept with other aspects of OOSH learning and programming, particularly in the areas of responsible and sustainable sourcing of food and respect and care for the natural world.
We celebrated BOOK week by implementing our program to align with the school’s Book Week celebrations. The children dressed up in inventive and creative costumes they had designed for Book Week celebrations. We participated in several rounds of our new game “Headbanz Rush” – similar to the original version but designed for a larger group and played with a timer to add to the excitement. Several children enjoyed our new car mats and a variety of vehicles, setting up small worlds and villages.
One of our highlights was celebrating World Gratitude Day. To celebrate this by making a visual display of the things we are grateful for in our lives. The children’s responses included their family and their pets and having lots of food to eat.
We cannot wait to see what 2021 has install for us at OOSH.
On behalf of all the OOSH educators and children, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
